Starbucks hates America: CEO pledges to hire 10,000 refugees instead of 10,000 American citizens

Starbucks recently pledged to hire 10,000 refugees over the next five years in the 75 countries where they operate. In addition to the recent pledge, the company also promises to offer continued support for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. They have guaranteed health care for their employees regardless of the Affordable Care Act, and wish to “build bridges not walls” with Mexico.

Many Starbucks customers were outraged with the recent announcement and threatened to boycott the coffee chain. They feel that those 10,000 jobs should be offered to the veterans. Starbucks announced their plan in a letter, opposing President Donald Trump’s executive order barring refugees from entering the United States. (RELATED: Find more Donald Trump news at Trump.news)

Starbucks isn’t the only major US company to stand up in response to Trump’s executive order. Ride hailing service Lyft pledged to donate $1 million to the American Civil Liberties Union. AirBnb CEO Brian Chesky announced on Facebook that the company will provide free housing to refugees. Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent has also expressed disappointment with the president’s executive order, but has yet to announce any plans in response. “Coca-Cola Co. is resolute in its commitment to diversity, fairness, and inclusion, and we do not support this travel ban or any policy that is contrary to our core values and beliefs” said Kent.

This isn’t the first time Starbucks has enraged Trump supporters. Last year, Trump supporters were asking Starbucks baristas to write “Trump” on their cups; in a movement called #TrumpCup. Some #TrumpCup supporters accused the chain of suppressing their right to political expression when their beverages weren’t marked accordingly. Many Trump supporters are now taking to Twitter with #BoycottStarbucks, criticizing Starbucks for their decision to hire refugees opposed to veterans.

Starbucks CEO has ties with Hillary Clinton

Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz has been very vocal about his political beliefs. He endorsed Hillary Clinton for president in September. Had she won the election, Schultz would have been the Democratic nominee’s pick for secretary of labor. “We are living in an unprecedented time, one in which we are witness to the conscience of our country, and the promise of the American Dream, being called into question,” wrote Schultz in a letter to Starbucks employees on Sunday, announcing plans to hire refugees. Schultz also fired back at #BoycottStarbucks supporters on Twitter. In 2013, Starbucks announced that they were committed to hiring 10,000 veterans by the end of 2018. The company has hired more than 8,000 veterans and military spouses since 2014. Starbucks cited the program in response to several Twitter exchanges. Schultz’s response didn’t bode well with Trump supporters because Schultz has failed to realize that not hiring veterans isn’t the only issue at hand. Speaking out against the executive order and taking a stand against Donald Trump shows left-wing resistance to Trump’s efforts to make America great again.

The Twitter war continues

Twitter users have been posting statements expressing that the recent Starbucks announcement might make liberals feel warm, but there are homeless vets who still need jobs. They are urging Donald Trump to stay strong with his executive order because American Security is the number one priority.

Starbucks supporters are also tweeting their displeasure with #BoycottStarbucks enthusiasts. They are pointing out that Starbucks has locations across the globe where Americans wouldn’t be applying for work. They are upset that people are criticizing Starbucks for trying to help people in need. “Starbucks hires thousands of vets, pays the tuition for spouse and children of vets to attend college. #DrinkStarbucksToFightBigotry” wrote one twitter user.

Divide and conquer: You’ve heard the expression before. There’s no doubt that America is divided, but who’s dividing us? It seems all the controversies are derived from global, political, and corporate interests. Americans need to wake up and keep their heads up, because we’re very close to being conquered.
